On July 14 we hosted our Mermaid Day, complete with a dunk tank, mermaid treats, and giveaways

I mean, really, who doesn’t love mermaids?

We just had to celebrate all things mermaid related at our most recent event and reveled in our mermaid-themed bakery items, coffees, and craft items. And, it seemed like the community was into it, too! We had about 1,000 people stop in during the event.

Bonus: anyone who come to the event dressed as a mermaid received a free bakery item of their choice!

Our Mermaid Day Menu was:

• Mermaid Cupcakes (Confetti, Chocolate, GF Chocolate)
• Clamshell Cookies
• Mermaid Munch
• Mermaid Cut-Outs
• Marshmallow Pops

Other activities included a rainbow mermaid craft table and Sara’s Sweets gift card giveaways.

We also had a dunk tank from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. that gave people the opportunity to dunk a few Lima “celebrities” for a good cause. We had Ben Anderson, everyone’s favorite State Farm agent, up first. Next, was mermaid-in-person Meredith Reiber from Anytime Fitness. Pastor Al Elmore from Lima Baptist Temple also took a couple dunks, followed by Adah Ellerbrock from Childers Media. Lastly, we had Officer Rachel Scott! A big thank you to all our dunk-volunteers!

At 25 cents per throw, all proceeds were donated to Lima YMCA Swim Lesson Scholarships. We were able to raise $600 to give away!

All in all, we had a fin-tastic day!
